Loss of grace: Stephen has known the Lord since he was a teenager and has a good walk with the Lord. Recently, he noticed that he had not been as fresh spiritually as he would have loved to. So he took time off to have a personal retreat. Why? According to him, “I just want to sharpen my spiritual cutting edge because I do not want to lose touch with God’s grace in my life”.

Knowing the importance of God’s grace and power in our lives is the key to humility and dependence on Him. It also helps us to avoid closed heaven. The Bible says, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory” (Psalm 84:11). If you lack grace you will struggle and even resort to man-made strategies that wouldn’t get the job done.

Loss of power: Anywhere there is a closed heaven the person or people will begin to depreciate and reduce in wealth, power and influence. The aftermath of this spiritual powerlessness is vulnerability to satanic attacks because their defense is broken. Anytime we observe the lack of grace we must run back to God.

Julian of Norwich writes, “By true repentance we are made clean, by compassion we are made ready, and by yearning for God we are made worthy”. Let us pray.
