Living In Troubled Times
2 Timothy 3:1-9
You should know this, Timothy that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful … (2 Timothy 3:1-2, NLT).
Today, we will begin our devotional topic for the quarter, “Living in Troubled Times”. The aim is to bring to our
attention the reality of the times we are living in. This would help us to gain understanding on how to manage these
difficult times and live as believers.
It is no longer news that we are living in troubled times. What we see, the events around us and the news that we hear confirmed this. There is trouble everywhere. The ways and lifestyles of men confirm the passage we read. The spate of wickedness and the inhumane treatment that we give to one another shows that something is wrong with our value systems.
A quick look into our environment and the issue of global climate change show that we are living in troubled times.
Yet, Jesus Christ, the prophets and the Apostles did not leave us in the dark. They warned of such times.
From the passage we read, Paul described the perilous times. Can any of us say some of the highlighted manifestations are yet to happen? They are all happening, so we must be warned. It is my prayer that once more, we will sit together at the feet of Jesus to learn from Him. The Lord will teach us. Shalom.
