Learn From The Egyptians

Genesis 41:1-36
Have them collect all the food during these good years and store up grain under Pharaoh’s control, to be kept for food in the cities (Genesis 41:35).

Having read through today’s passage, I believe that we can learn from Joseph’s advice to Pharaoh and use some wisdom from the word of God that would change our lives.

Those of us living in nations that are in recession now had had a time of abundance in the past, but we did not prepare. We did not invest in our infrastructure and opportunities we had. That is why many businesses have folded up. May be we thought that the abundance would last forever.

But we can prevent it from happening in the future if we heed the wisdom of God. The Bible says in Proverbs 6: 6-8, “Consider the ant, you lazy bum. Watch its ways, and become wise. Although it has no overseer, officer, or ruler, in summertime it stores its food supply. At harvest time it gathers its food” (God’s Word Translation).

If ants could plan for the future, I believe we can do better. The God who gave Joseph the wisdom that saved Egypt will help us. The lesson is that times and seasons will continue in life but we do not have to suffer from its effect. The Egyptians had enough to eat and sell to other nations when the seven years of famine came. May the Lord grant us wisdom in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
