Lack Of Friends

Judges 15:9-20
Then Samson said: “With the jawbone of a donkey, Heaps upon heaps, with the jawbone of a donkey I have slain a thousand men!” … (Judges 15:16).

We will continue to look at other weaknesses.

1. Pride: Samson became arrogant and proud of his achievements and power. See verse 16.

Solution: We can never go wrong with humility. We are anointed to serve a people and achieve a goal. Whatever we achieve in the process is not our doing. It is the Lord’s doing. He alone should take all the glory.

2. Lack of friends: In the story of Samson, not once was it mentioned that he had consistent personal f r i e n d s . T h e o n l y t i m e c o m p a n i o n s w e r e mentioned were those given to him by his in-laws in Timnah (Judges 14:11). In verse 8 we were told that Samson went alone into a cave. Was his isolation due to the fact that he was a Nazarite? But t h e i r vows did not include not having friends. In isolation, he became vulnerable to emotional and satanic attacks.

Solution: We need good friends around us. Jesus was the Nazarene and He had friends. If Jesus needed to have friends to stand by Him in the garden of Gethsemane, then we need them. Remember, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24, KJV).
