Keep Plowing
Ecclesiastes 11:1-6
Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you may receive a return. Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land (Ecclesiastes 11:1-2 , NIV ).
In the times of recession and famine, we are prone to keep what we have but God’s perspective is different.
The Bible says, “Invest what you have, because after a while you will get a return. Invest what you have in several different businesses, because you don’t know what disasters might happen” (Ecclesiastes 11:1-2, New Century Version). This perspective is also supported by the story of Isaac in Genesis 26.
God instructed Isaac to sow in the time of famine because that is the secret to harvest. “Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you … Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him” (Genesis 26:3, 12, NIV).
Friend, continue to sow your seed. Keep plowing. Keep giving even in your time of need. Keep working because suddenly God’s favour will change the game for good. The preacher adds, “Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well” (Ecclesiastes 11:6, NIV).
God can work through any circumstance, so be ready. Be alert to divine connections and opportunities. In a little while God will move you into a season of abundance. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Thank God for this word. Praise Him because you will not be forgotten.
- Pray that the Lord will show you where to sow your seeds and how to sow them.
