Jesus’ Childhood
Luke 2:21-51
“Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against …”
Luke 2:34-35
In today’s passage we have a glimpse of Jesus’ childhood. He grew up and lived like us. From the Scriptures we
understand that Jesus was dedicated as every other Jewish child. However, the presence of Simeon and Anna provides further evidence that He is no ordinary child. The words and the prophecies given by Simon further illustrate this.
Simon told His parents, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against … that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” (Luke 2:34-35).
Of interest is the fact that Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit from birth and that influenced his life and ministry. It was said of Him, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52). He amazed the teachers of His days when He had a discourse with them. The Bible says, “And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answer” (Luke 2:47).
Friend, we have a Savior who is reliable. Let us not be swayed by strange doctrines. Read the Bible for yourself and know the truth. May the Lord open our hearts to understand more truth about our Lord and Savior. Shalom.
