It Won’t Hurt
Psalm 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry (Psalm 40:1, NLT).
Friend, one of the lessons I am learning is that it pays to wait on the Lord because it won’t hurt to do so. Yet, when we wait we may not understand the reason for the delays. We may appear foolish to others but when God answers us, the pain of the waiting will be over and joy will be ours.
When God remembers you and answers your prayers, then you can say like the psalmist that it was good for me to be afflicted (Psalm 119:71). Therefore, I encourage you to wait on the Lord this quarter as you pray and believe Him for a change or a blessing. Do not lose hope and the expectation of God’s visitation in your life. Continue to speak the word and stand on it.
The psalmist writes, “I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry” (vs.1, NLT). His deliverance happened because He waited. If he had jumped ahead of God and taken matters into his hands, he would have sunk deeper into the pit and the situations in his life might have gotten worse.
He waited and the Lord gave Him a new song of praise and thanksgiving. I encourage you to wait on Him. Take joy in His love for you and His word knowing that what He promises will come to pass. God will answer you and give us a new song too. Let us pray.
Your Turn
- Talk to God about your challenges and areas you feel you are in a pit of despair.
- Ask the Lord to come to your rescue and set you free.
- Pray that the Lord will give you a new song.
Song: He will do it again.
