Intentional Rejoicing

Isaiah 44:23; 49:13
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! (Philippians 4:4).

Friend, please purpose in your heart to rejoice in the Lord always. Decide to give thanks in all things through Christ Jesus. By this, I mean be intentional to praise God in all circumstances because it is the will of God. See 1 Thessalonian 5:18.

To rejoice means to release joy in our heart. We release joy and sing because we know God commands our praise and dwells in it. See Psalm 22:3. When we rejoice, we will draw water from the well of salvation. This water refreshes our soul and mind. It brings comfort to us because it comes from the presence of the Lord. See Isaiah 12:3.

From the passages we read, we could see how prophet Isaiah commanded the heavens and the earth to sing because of what God had done. We can learn from this too. If the trees and mountains are called into worship, then we who are created in God’s image cannot be found wanting.

We sing also because of what the Lord has done, is doing and will continue to do for us. We rejoice because we have been comforted and will be comforted when we face  difficulties in life.

Friend, there are many things we can thank God for. Open your mouth and join the heavens and earth to sing today as you rejoice in the Lord! Shalom.
