Intentional Focus

Philippians 3:7-16
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. (Philippians 3:13).

The “one thing” principle is related to focus. When we focus our lives on few things, we will achieve more than when we dissipate our energy.

The truth is that no one has all the time to do everything in life.  Hence, the need to focus on what matters most. For example, when it comes to spiritual focus, I have realized that it is easier for those who have been born again for sometime to slack in their walk with God and become weary.

Familiarity sets in and we may unintentionally lose our spiritual cutting edge. That shouldn’t happen if we are intentional and focus our energy on knowing the Lord more. There are more levels of glory to attain in Christ. There are new things and higher levels of intimacy to pursue.

Paul says, “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead” (Philippians 3:13). This must be our goal too. The more we focus on God and seek Him, the more we will press on towards the goal and attain a higher level of spiritual authority and growth.

Friend, let us be purposeful in seeking the Lord and achieving our goals this year. Shalom.
