In Whom Do You Take Pride?
Philippians 3:1-7
We are the true circumcised people of God because we serve God’s Spirit and take pride in Christ Jesus. We don’t place any confidence in physical things (Philippians 3:3, GWT).
Today, let us focus our attention on the One who matters most. Our generation is gradually becoming a performance-based generation. We measure our life’s worth by how much money we have in our bank accounts and how many properties we own. We measure our Christianity by what we are doing for God and not how our relationship is with Him.
But a performance-based Christianity will harm us. It will lure us away from walking in the Spirit to walking in the flesh, seeking to obey the law. When we are conscious of how holy we are in terms of how much or less sin we have in our lives, then we have moved away from God’s gift of righteousness to the law.
Yes, there is a place for bearing the fruit of righteousness and we are admonished to do so. However, the Scriptures tell usĀ that God frowns at us when we seek to receive Him in our own ways. For the Bible says by the works of the flesh shall no man be justified.
What matters most is that we love Him and depend on Him and the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for our righteousness. We are not worthy, but Jesus Christ made us worthy through His blood. That is why we take pride in Him. He is our Hero. He is our Leader. Think on these things. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Pray for yourself as you have been ministered to.
- Father help us to return all the praise back to you as we take pride in what You are doing in our lives. Amen.
