Hope In God

Psalm 42:1-11
Why are you discouraged, my soul? Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God, because I will still praise him. He is my savior and my God(Psalm 42:5, God’s Word Translation).

Hannah, the mother of Prophet Samuel, knew what it was to hope in God even when you do not know when He would answer you. She refused to give up during the several years of tears and agony amidst many trips to Shiloh. Finally, God heard her prayers. She conceived and had Samuel.

The sister of Lazarus of Bethany had hope when they sent message to Jesus to come and heal their brother. But we know they lost this hope when He failed to show up. Lazarus died. However, something happened. When they lost their hope, God and His Son, Jesus Christ, did not lose hope. They had a plan. In the end, they got a miracle.

We all need to learn how to hold on to hope. Even when we do not know how life is going to turn out, we must not lose hope. Abraham hoped against hope. God finally gave them Isaac. Romans 4:18. The psalmist was discouraged too when he wrote Psalm 42, but in the end, he said, “Put your hope in God, because I will still praise him”. (Psalm 42:5, God’s Word Translation). He knew God could still show up and his situation would change.

Friend, keep hope alive. Expect God to come to your aid. Look forward to the time that you will share your testimony and praise Him. Shalom.
