Heaven’s Influence
Matthew 7:7-11
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened (Matthew 7: 8).
We will continue our meditation on prayer. Another definition of prayer is: Prayer is a means of attracting heaven’s influence into our lives and situations. The scriptures are replete with accounts of heavens’ influence on earth as men
prayed to God.
This reminds me of David’s experience in 2 Samuel 5:17-25. He prayed, and God told him to go to war because He would go ahead of him. “So it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines” (v. 24).
The sound on top of the mulberry tree signifies the presence of God and the armies of heaven arriving to help David in the battle. What happened? David won because he prayed. How many times have you prayed and sensed that God was the One who intervened and influenced the answer you got? When you pray, you are asking God to step in and influence the situation in your favor.
When you ask for a job, all you are doing is asking God to cause the management of the company to look favorably on your application so that you will be selected for the interview, and ultimately get the job. When we see prayer this way, we will be motivated to pray more and ask for heaven’s influence.
Your Turn
- Pray for your soul to be revived to pray.
- Pray for God’s influence over your life.
