Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 4:23; 1 Corinthians 10:12
Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

In our battle for the truth we must not let down our guard. We must watch ourselves to be sure that we are not vulnerable to the gimmicks of the enemy to fall into error. We must place having an inner and personal encounter with the Lord above seeking for sensual experiences.

These evil men will do all they can to attract us to their gatherings. Some will play on our emotions and senses. This is happening already. All forms of emotionalism that do not give glory to God in all its expression must be fought seriously.

Paul told the Galatians that their new experiences were not part of what they learnt about Christ. “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth?” (Galatians 3:1, KJV).

That new experience that you have was it taught by Christ? Those extra spiritual books that you are reading are they based on the word of God?  Be careful. Remember to “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

Also, “Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12). It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, will continue to guide us in all our ways. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • How diligent are you at guarding your heart from wrong and satanic teachings?
  • In what ways can you help your fellow believers to remain focused on the truth of Christ? Pray as you are led.

Song:  Holy words long preserved (Ancient word ever true).
