God, Our Help
Psalm 121:1-3
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help (Psalm 121:1, KJV).
As we draw nearer to the end of the year, I want us to take a look at Psalm 121, explore it with the aim of building our confidence in the Lord.
The author of this Psalm is not given, but it is the 2nd in the series of the 15 Songs of Ascents or degrees. Beginning from verse 1, we are faced with the thoughts of a man who definitely was in some kind of trouble at the time and therefore needed help. His thoughts must have led him to compare various sources of help before coming to the conclusion that it was the Lord he would look up to.
Friend, there is no lasting help from anyone except from the Lord. Our friends and family members could make promises, but we have seen that several times such promises fail. Only those who have been chosen by God and are willing to cooperate with Him, will be able to help us. Therefore, let God be your helper and let Him choose whoever He wants to use.
The psalm further revealed that our God is big. He controls everything and can handle anything. The sun and moon obey him. Call on Him in faith and wait for His appointed time to help you. Surely, He will not fail.
