Follow Biblical Pattern
Joshua 8:1-29
Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; take all the people of war with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land (Joshua 8:1).
ard work pays. It is the biblical pattern we are called to follow. The Bible never condones laziness. Reading through the book of Proverbs, we would see that sloppiness or being sluggish is frowned at. Paul writes, “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord” (Romans 12:11, KJV).
One of the ways God blesses us is through the work of our hands. That is why the Psalmist writes, “Whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalm 1:3). It then makes sense to say if we do nothing, God would have nothing to bless.
When God told Joshua that He had given them the land, he expected them to go out and do the practical things. Joshua had to go to war. If not, the victory God promised them would not become a reality. In the same way, God has promised to bless us, we must do our part.
The question is: Are you ready to work this year? Do you want to enjoy the blessing the Lord has promised? Remember, God has immuned you from the effect of famine, if you cooperate with Him. “In the days of famine they shall be satisfied” (Psalm 37:19, KJV).
Fortunately, God no longer rains down manna. We are to work because we have entered our Canaan. May the Lord grant us the strength to do our part. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Ask the Lord to show you where you need to work and plant.
- Ask for strength and help you need to work.
Song: He is able more than able.
