Focused Labour
Ecclesiastes 10:15
The labor of fools wearies them, for they do not even know how to go to the city! (Ecclesiastes 10:15).
The wise man admonishes us to go to the ants to learn.
See Proverbs 6:6-11. Why? The ants are intentional animals. They plan their lives and prepare for the future. They do not live on the mantra: “whatever will be, will be”. They are wise observers who understand the time and maximize the seasons.
Many of us are talkers but not doers (I inclusive). And those whom we call doers are not focused doers. They are not focused laborers as well. That is why the preacher says, “The labor of fools wearies them, for they do not even know how to go to the city!”(Ecclesiastes 15:10). Our labor will weary us if we do not labor the right way and do things right.
This year, let us seek to labor with the intention of reaping a good harvest. Let us know what we are doing, why we are doing it and what we hope to achieve when we do it. For example, if you are a farmer, how will you maximize your profit if you do not understand the supply chain that is operational in the market you are operating?
Friend, I can go on but the message is: it is time to wake up from our slumber and be wise in the way we live and work.
Shalom.
