Finish The Fight

Judges 1:5-7
And they found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fought against him…Then Adoni-Bezek fled, and they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and big toes (Judges 1: 5-6).

Another lesson we could learn from the passage is the principle of completion. We must seek to be finishers, i.e., to complete what we have started. It was easier for the men of Judah and Simeon to give up and not pursue Adoni-zedek. But they persevered and engaged him in a fight in order to have a complete and permanent victory.

Many times we give up too soon or accept partial victory because we are unwilling to stretch ourselves. Imagine what would have happened in a year or two years if they had allowed this wicked king to reinforce. He would have come full swing and taken revenge on them.

Before we start anything, it is better to do a careful analysis of what it would take to finish it. See Luke 14:28. When it comes to spiritual warfare and life’s battles, nobody wants to have a partial victory. An unfinished business is never a completed business.

Gaining victory over this wicked king revealed that God was actually waiting for him to reap what he had sown as stated by him in verse 7. Friend, do not run from the enemy, ask the Lord for strength and ask Him to fight your battles for you. Both of you are a majority. You will have the victory. Shalom.
