Find The Place

Ruth 2:8-18
So Boaz said to Ruth, “My daughter, listen to me. Don’t go and glean in another field and don’t go away from here. Stay here with the women who work for me.” (Ruth 2:8 NIV).

Friend, it is time we began to pray and ask God to pour His favor on us. When God favors us, men will favor us and we will find help that we need. Some of the signs to look for include uncommon help and support from people who ordinarily may not be willing to help.

In the place of favor, grace will be released and every prejudice and discrimination will be rolled away. Ordinarily, Ruth did not deserve the kind treatment she got from the field  manager and the owner, Boaz. She was a foreigner and a poor young widow. Yet favor singled her out and God blessed her.

Ruth was amazed by the kindness of Boaz. She asked him, “Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me-a foreigner?” (Ruth 2:10, NIV). Hidden in this statement was the confirmation of her expectation in Ruth 2:2. She knew that only the favor of God could have caused the field owner to notice her and allow her to glean in his farm.

Boaz offered her a job. She was to remain in his field so she  could have a source of income and be protected from possible attacks and molestation that young women and foreigners were proned to. Boaz knew she was vulnerable if left alone in unknown fields. That is God at work. He can do the same for you. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • How much favor do you need in your life?
  • Are you ready to ask God for it? How much help and divine leading do you need?
  • Pray for yourself. Use Psalm 102:13 to pray.
