Fight Stagnation
Deuteronomy 2:1-7
You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north.
Deuteronomy 2:3, NAS.
The word stagnant means not flowing in a current or stream. It also means not advancing or developing. If we pay close attention to the passage we read, you will see that God does not like stagnation. We must not like it too.
Let us fight stagnation and wage war against the powers behind it in our lives. In the year 2020, ensure that your plans include a plan for progress. Life is too short for you to be stagnated or fixated at a point, either as a result of or because you lack direction.
Moses said, “We moved as the Lord directed me” (Deuteronomy 2:1). I love that! Yet, when it got to a point, God spoke to them again, “You have dwelt too long on this mountain, turn northward” (Deuteronomy 2:3). Remember: northward means that you are going forward.
The great philosopher, Mabie, writes:
Nothing is lost upon a man who is bent upon growth;
nothing wasted on one who is always preparing for his
work and his life by keeping eyes, mind and heart
open to nature, men, books, experience. Such a man
finds ministers to his education on all sides;
everything cooperates with his passion for growth.
And what he gathers serves him at unexpected
moments in unforeseen ways.”
Friend, “Look up and not down; look forward and not back; look out and not in; and lend a hand”.- Hale. Shalom.
Your Turn
