Faith And Healing
Luke 7:1-10
When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”
Luke 7:9
Yesterday, we saw that asking is a part of the process of initiating healing. Today’s passage confirms this. The
centurion loved his servant. He heard that Jesus could do great things. Especially he must have heard that He is a
healer (see Luke 7:3). He sent his friends to Jesus and asked for His servant’s healing.
Jesus responded positively to their request. While on His way, the centurion did something unusual. He revealed the
depth of his faith and understanding of the power and authority in the word of God.
He said to Jesus, “I did not even think myself worthy to come to You … For I also am a man placed under authority,
And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it” (Luke 7:7-8). Jesus commended his faith and the healing happened as desired.
Friend, we need to grow our faith so that we can receive from our heavenly Father what we desire. The centurion
heard, understood that Jesus’ word is full of power and He can heal. He received his servant back to life. May we grow to this level of faith in our belief and walk with God. Shalom.
