Encourage Others
2 Timothy 1: 13-18
Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 1:13, NASB).
By now you know “the faith” that we are fighting for.
However, it is worth repeating that what we are contending for is not the personal faith we have as individuals in God. The faith we are contending for is everything that pertains to our salvation in God.
When it comes to standing against errors and the evil men that Jude mentioned in Jude 4, we must all become encouragers. When we stand for the truth that we know and fight wrong doctrines and their perpetrators, we will all be encouraged.
Paul admonished Timothy saying, “Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus” (vs.13, NASB). How good it will be if we will all heed this advice.
This would help us to be more observant of one another’s way and the doctrines that we live by so that we can strengthen those who are weak. See Hebrews 12:12-13. We can also win those who are on the path of destruction back to Christ.
When we noticed that someone is acting as an agent of the devil in the congregation, the leadership can take it upon itself to teach biblical truth on the issue. This will encourage others to know the truth and stand for it. The intended danger will be aborted. Shalom.
