Embrace Sound Doctrine

2 Timothy 1:8-18
Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 1:13).

The necessity for sound doctrine has never been higher than in our time. In our day, we have become more vulnerable to worldviews that could jeopardize our faith in the living God and Jesus Christ. If care is not taken, this could have impact on the future of Christianity.

Of note is the fact that this need has always been there from the inception of the church. Paul, writing to Timothy, encouraged him to hold fast to sound teaching and retain it. The Living Bible paraphrased our focal text thus: “Hold tightly to the pattern of truth I taught you, especially concerning the faith and love Christ Jesus offers you” (2 Timothy 1:13). Failure to do this could expose us to error and false teaching.

Jesus warned that many deceivers would come and deceive many. He said, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Matthew 24:12-13). To avoid falling into error and wrong doctrine, we must continue to embrace the truth of God’s word in love and faith.

Let us endeavor to retain a biblical worldview. We are in the end times and many deceivers will come. The Lord will help us as we seek His face and continue to grow in our knowledge of Him. Shalom.
