Drive The Vultures Away

Genesis 15:11
And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away. (Genesis 15:11).

Vultures are known to be deadly birds. They are large birds of prey with little or no feathers on their head and neck. They feed on dead things. They live in anticipation of the death of a sick or injured animal or person.

Friend, just as there are physical vultures, we have spiritual vultures too. We have human beings or persons who are referred to as vultures. Vultures are contemptible persons who prey on or exploit others. That is why we need to be alert to their operations.

Following Abraham’s time of communion with God and the sacrifice he made to seal the covenant between them, he waited to see what would happen. The Bible says, “when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away” (Genesis 15:11). I love the phrase, “Abram drove them away”.

Friend, it is our duty to drive the vultures away. It is not God’s duty. We must be alert and be ready to drive away any vulture who wants to feed on our death. We must drive from our lives and environment anyone who preys on or exploits us.

Drive them away through prayers, confession of faith and prophetic actions and by separating yourself from them. Darkness and light share no common place. When Abraham did his part, God showed up, and sealed the covenant. Who is God speaking to today? Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Can you identify any area that the vulture is at work in your life, family, business and relationships?
  • Take authority over them and drive them away.
