Don’t Be Left Out

Mark 15:42-47
Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body (Mark 15:43, NIV).

Our God used several people to contribute to the preparation, death and burial of the Lord Jesus Christ. Among these was the woman who poured her Alabaster oil on Him. Jesus said she did it for the preparation of His body for burial.

Another person was Simon, a Cyrenian, who was asked to carry the cross for Jesus on the way to Golgotha. Also in the crowd were other women who stood by and watched as He died. They also followed others to know where he was buried.

Today’s devotional reading brings to our attention another man named, Joseph of Arimathea. He was a friend and a secret follower of Jesus Christ. Knowing that Jesus had died, he went to Pilate and requested for His body.

Each of them did something. They spent their resources. The woman gave her best. Simon used his strength.  Joseph used his resources. The Bible says, “Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb” (Mark 15:46, NIV).

Friend, we must not be left out in making contributions to the glory of God. These men and women did their part. It is our time. May we not be found wanting in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
