Divine Visitation
Acts 10:9-23
He fell into a trance and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. (Acts 10:10-11).
Divine visitation is another characteristic of open heaven. The Scripture is full of examples of those who experienced open heaven in this way. This includes Jacob, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jesus and Nathaniel to name a few. Paul, Peter, Cornelius and the Apostles were not left out.
As Peter waited for a meal being prepared for him God visited him. We were told, “He fell into a trance and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth”(Acts 10:10-11). Through the encounter God spoke to him and changed the configuration of the Church. The gospel was taken to the Gentiles. The mystery of the Gentiles’ position as heirs of salvation in God was revealed and affirmed.
Friend, divine visitation will lead to unique turning point in an individual’s life, church or nation. When the heaven opened over Jesus, God revealed Him to the world as His Son and the Savior of the world. These encounters changed the course of humanity and the matter of the mystery of mankind’s eternal destination was revealed.
Stephen saw the heaven opened while being stoned to death. His death led to the spread of the gospel to other areas as believers fled from their persecutors in Jerusalem. Friend, we need divine visitation too. Let us ask for it.
