Count It All Joy

James 1:1-8
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience (James 1:2-3).

While I was concluding yesterday’s devotional message, I was reminded of today’s passage. Friend, because we have been encouraged to have an expectation of trial and persecution, we must learn to prepare for it. How can we do this?

Today’s meditation provides some of the means.

  1. We are to count it all joy. Why joy? Because it is part of the deal.
  2. We are to rejoice because we know that we are not alone in these things. 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
  3. We are to rejoice because we know that Christ meant it to work for our overall good. Romans 8:28.
  4. We must use the persecution to our advantage. How? By ensuring that we reap the good in it as stated in James 1:34. We must use it to grow in faith and patience. Then we will lack nothing.
  5. Ask for help when you need it. If you need wisdom to manage the situation, ask God for it. Talk to mature believers if you are led to do so.

Friend, there is an answer in God for every situation. There is a way of victory in every trial. Let us ask God to show us what to do. We will grow and our lives will be much better. Shalom.
