Contending For The Faith
Jude 1-3
Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called (Jude1:1, KJV).
Today, we will begin our study on Contending For The Faith. These devotionals are written based on the letter of Jude to believers. Jude wrote his letter with the aim of exhorting the believers to stand firm in their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Although a short book of 25 verses, I trust that the Lord will use it to speak to us and encourage us to contend for the faith that was once delivered to us in the same way it blessed the people it was first addressed.
Starting from the first verse, the author and the addressees were made known. Theologians agree that Jude, the author of the letter, is one of Jesus Christ’s half-brothers. As some scholars have suggested he was humbled enough not to flout his connection with the Lord but to accept that he was one of His servants.
Jude addressed his letter to those who have been called, sanctified and preserved by the Lord. It means that the letter is written to us too because we have been called, sanctified and preserved by the Lord for Himself.
Friend, as we go through this book, let us humble ourselves and receive its message as a word from the Lord. Then the word will shape us and help us to be who God wants us to be.
Your Turn

- Pray that your heart will be enlightened to understand the divine truths meant for you in this letter.
