Condemnation Of False Teachers

Jude 12-15
These people are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you  without the slightest qualm  shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted  twice dead (Jude 12, NIV).

Jude condemned the false teachers saying, “They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted  twice dead” (Jude 12, NIV). From the kingdom perspective, they are useless. They can never be fruitful in the things of our loving God because what they preach is not ordained by Him.

They will be judged. They will be punished for their evil deeds that have led many souls to hell. Some of their victims may never retrace their steps or have the opportunity to repent and turn to the Living God. Jude highlights their common traits. These include:

  1. Spots or blemishes. They are not good company even when they attend our love feasts. They are stains that should be avoided.
  2. Clouds without rains. This relates to emptiness. They have nothing good to offer.
  3. Autumn trees without fruits. No matter what you do to them they will remain unfruitful in the things of God because their roots are not connected to Jesus Christ.
  4. Wild waves of the sea. All they do is to stir up arguments with the error they preach.

Jude concluded by saying that God’s judgment awaits them because it has been predicted. God will judge these ungodly men who walk in the way of Cain, Balaam and Korah’s rebellion to the truth.

Your Turn

  • Pray that you will not become like these men. Ask for grace to remain in Christ.
