Benefits Of Imitating Christ

1 Thessalonians 1:6-7
And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia (1 Thessalonians 1:7, NIV).

Yesterday, we looked at the meaning of the word ‘imitate’. We concluded by saying that we needed to be imitators of the Thessalonian church just as they imitated their leaders and Christ.

Today we will look at some of the benefits of imitating Christ.

  1. We become more like Christ by following Him and emulating His way of life, commitment to God and to His  life purpose.
  2. We become conformed to His image. This is the ultimate goal that God wants us to achieve. When we do this, we are on the way to restoration in the way it was meant to be in Genesis Chapters 1 and 2. See Romans 8:29.
  3. We imitate Him to do greater works. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12).
  4. We become role models for others too. When they see how we have patterned our lives after Christ, living different from the ways of this world, they would be encouraged to follow Christ too. 1 Thessalonians 1:7.

May the Lord help us to see the need to live by the word of God.

Shalom.
