Benefits Of Contending
Luke 19: 11-27
And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ (Luke 19:17).
One of the benefits of contending for the faith is that we will gain God’s approval. We will also be rewarded because we have done what we have been commanded to do. We are told to contend for the faith and we have.
If we have stood against falsehood and lies that becloud the truth of the gospel, we will be rewarded. If we have fought the Elymas of our days who deny others access to hearing and believing the word of God, we will be rewarded. See Acts 13:4-12.
The principle of reward can be seen in the passage we read. Jesus told his hearers that the two men who did something with their minas were welcomed and approved by their master. The master told them: “Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities” (Luke 19:17).
I believe God will say the same things to us as we continue to play our role in making sure that the doctrine of Christ continues to be taught aright and passed on from one generation to another.
Friend, let us continue to fight the good fight of the faith. Remember, those who honor Him, He will honor. It is my prayer that you will be encouraged to continue to defend the faith that you have received in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Thank God for the grace He has given you to stand and play your role.
- Pray for the grace to continue to do so shamelessly.
