Be Thankful

1 Thessalonians 5:18
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus (NLT).

Yoanis started playing football from a very young age. He continued until he went to college and joined the school team. During a game with another team outside the town, he injured his hamstrings muscles. He could not play for weeks. One day as he was doing his physiotherapy exercise in the gymnasium, it dawned on him that God had been good to Him. Although, he had thanked Him several times while in the hospital, that afternoon his heart soared in praises to God for his recovery.

Friend, being thankful is an attitude that we all need to cultivate. We need to be grateful for who we are and for what we have. Others may not like me, but I choose to be thankful for how God made me. The psalmist says, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. (Psalm 139: 14).

You may not be living in the best house and with the best conditions in life but you can thank God because you have a form of housing, you could keep warm and you have food to eat. Millions are around the world with no shelter and food to eat.

Maybe you are feeling bad that life has not been so good, think about those who are not feeling too well, yet many of them are grateful for each day they have to live. When we think we will be thankful. And that in all circumstances!

Your Turn

  • Thank God for the many things He has done for you.

Song: Bless the Lord O my soul.
