Be Still
Psalm 46:1-11
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! (Psalm 46:10).
Whenever I need comfort and peace, I have always found great solace in the words of the hymn, “Be still my soul” written by Katharina A. Von Schlelgel in 1752. The hymn was translated from German to English in 1855 by Jane Laurie Borthwick. God continues to speak to me through it. The first verse goes thus:
Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side. Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change, He faithful will remain. Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Friend, as we enter the new month, be still and know that God is still on the throne. He will order and provide for you. He is in charge of your life and the whole creation. Do not allow the disorder and confusion in our world into your soul. God is the God of order. He will order your life and it will be glorious in the end.
If He says He will be exalted, I believe it. When God is exalted in my case, it means that I am victorious. It does not matter what I am facing now, I will win. Tell yourself: “Be still my soul. The Lord is with you. All things will work together for my good”. Shalom.
