Be Intentional
2 Corinthians 5:9 -10
Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. (2 Corinthians 5:9).
Sometime last year, the Lord began to speak to me about the need for believers to be intentional with their lives. The aim is to ensure that our lives are focused to enable us live productive lives.
From today, I will start sharing with us the various areas the Lord wants us to be intentional. This presents a shift in the usual pattern of the devotional in January. I believe the Lord will speak to you through the various words for the year from your church and other churches.
First, what does it mean to be intentional? The word
“intentional” as an adjective means to do things in a way that is planned or intended. It means to do things as they are designed and having an extreme reference to guide it. Some synonyms include conscious, deliberate, intended, purposeful, willful, etc.
Consequently, when we are admonished to be intentional with our lives, it simply means to live by design. It means to live a planned, organized and purposeful life so that things will not be done haphazardly.
The Bible says, “Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him” (2 Corinthians 5:9). The goal is clear. The Apostle wants to please God. Is that our goal too? Are we intentional about it? Let us pray.
Your Turn
- Are you living life by design or you are just flowing with life as things happen?
- What are the things that hinder you from living an intentional life? Talk to God.
