Banish Anxiety

Ecclesiastes 11:1-10
So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body… (Ecclesiastes 11:10 , NIV ).

Praise God for the opportunity to see another new month. We praise Him for His goodness and mercy that we have enjoyed.

Today, as we start the month, I want to encourage us to remove sorrow from our heart. Let us banish sorrow, worry and anxiety. Why? It is because it wrecks our bones. It affects and ruins our health. The Bible says, “So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body…” (Ecclesiastes 11: 10, NIV)

When we are anxious and sorrowful, we block the flow of God’s grace and joy from reaching us. When we are sorrowful, we detach ourselves from receiving God’s strength we need to face the day. When we are anxious we will miss the presence of the Lord that has come to bless us and help us. We will also make mistakes because we are restless.

Nehemiah 8:10 warned us by saying, “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength”. The wise man writes, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22).

The antidote to sorrow and anxiety is to learn to take your burden to God. Do not let anxiety rob you of your joy, peace and strength. Remember, “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad” (Proverbs 12:25). Shalom.
