Assurance of Sin Forgiven

Colossians 1:13-14
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace ( Ephesians  1:7).

The next evidence of assurance is that of sins forgiven. I know that this is where many of us struggle myself inclusive. Many time doubts come to us when we are in our low moments and we are unsure whether the sins we committed in the past have been cleansed and forgiven.

Friend, our sins have been forgiven because God said so. He says when we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness, He will forgive. He has done exactly that because we have done our part.  See 1 John 1:9. Furthermore, the Bible is replete with evidences that our sins have been forgiven because of our redemption in Christ.  Look at some examples:

… For they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more (Jeremiah 31:34).

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:7-8).

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” (Hebrews 8:12).

The passage we read in Colossians further confirmed this truth.  This is the word of the Lord. Believe it and let your life produce the evidence. You have been forgiven. Live in peace. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Thank God for the assurance that your sins are forgiven     and forgotten. Pray for the grace to live wholly for God.
