Are You Laboring?
Colossians 1:24-29
To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily (Colossians 1:29).
Today’s devotional thought is a challenge to us. As we reflect and prepare for the New Year, I want to ask: Are you laboring with God? Are you maximizing the anointing that God has given you? How about the grace of God on your life? I hope you have not received it in vain. Paul told the Corinthians, “We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain”(2 Corinthians 6:1).
God has called us to serve Him. He saved us so that we can be instruments in His hands to preach the gospel to others that they may be saved. When we fail to do this, we have failed to please Him.
Hidden in the passage we read is Paul’s thoughts on how he lived and served the Lord. He told the people of Colossae, “I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me” (Colossians 1:29, New Living Translation). God’s power was at work in him and he complemented it with his work. That is the example that we need to follow.
In this way, Paul and God were partners in fulfilling the purpose for his life and reaching more people for the kingdom. May the Lord touch our heart and help us to wake up to our responsibilities in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
