A Prayer In Distress
Isaiah 33:1-9
Please, Lord, be kind to us! We depend on you. Make us strong each morning, and come to save us when we are in trouble.
Isaiah 33:2, CEV.
The word of God is living and powerful. Today’s devotional reading brings a word of hope to God’s people. Jerusalem will be saved. Not only that, the Lord will also recompense tribulation to those who have troubled them. Apostle Paul assures, “it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you” (2
Thessalonians 1:6).
The prophet prayed, “Please, Lord, be kind to us! We depend on you. Make us strong each morning, and come to save us when we are in trouble” (Isaiah 33:2, CEV). He knew their God is powerful and can do what no man can do.
Friend, in the day of distress let us be quick to call on the Lord. He will answer us. Let us not keep quiet until the enemies have had their way before we know that we have a God who saves. The Bible says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
I love the way the prophetic prayers concluded. It says. “You, Lord, are above all others, and you live in the heavens. You have brought justice and fairness to Jerusalem; you are the foundation on which we stand today. You always save us and give true wisdom and knowledge. Nothing means more to us than obeying you” (Isaiah 33:5-6). He is my foundation too. How about you? Let us pray.
