A Helper And Warrior
Genesis 14:1 – 6
And when Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. (Genesis 14:14, NASB).
One of the reasons for studying the life of a person is to look for positive values that can be emulated from that life. Abraham was a man of many virtues. Today, we will look at another strength he possessed.
Abraham was a helper and a warrior. He demonstrated this by taking Lot, his nephew, with him following the death of his brother, Haran. He could have left him behind, but he did not. Some of us over look this virtue because of the arguments that happened between their herdsmen and Lot’s subsequent behavior to him and to God.
Abraham was also a warrior. When he heard about the situation with Lot, his family and the people captured with him, he rose up to rescue them with his own army. Everyone taken was delivered not a hoof was lost. We were told, “When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan”. (Genesis 14:14, NASB).
How many of us possess these virtues and strengths? How are many using their resources to help others? Do we know that our influence could become a weapon to rescue others? Let us not be believers in words only. Let us be one in action. When we do, God honors us.
Shalom.
