A Heart Full Of Pride
Isaiah 14:12-20
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven… I will be like the most High (vs.13-14).
We will continue our meditation on Open Heaven as we look at other causes of closed heaven. The lack of worship and thankful heart can sometimes be linked to pride. No one stops worship until they begin to feel big or think that their hands have provided all that they have and not God.
The greatest enemy of open heaven is pride. When Lucifer became proud trouble came under his roof. He wanted to ascend to the throne and be like God! His beauty, gifts and talents got into his head and made him to forget that it was God who gave them to him. He forgot he was created and the One whom he planned to overthrow is the Creator.
We must watch it too. None of us is indispensable. No matter how gifted and anointed we are, we can be replaced. We must never think in our heart: ‘Without me they cannot make it in my company or church?’ or ‘Without me the service is not complete?’
Paul writes, “What do you have that you did not receive?” (1 Corinthians 4:7, NIV). God gave us His Spirit. We must not take credit for what He is doing through us. The One who opens the heaven can shut it if He sees that we have become full of ourselves through pride. Let us watch. Shalom.
