A Continuous Process
Colossians 1:9-14
Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience (Colossians 1:11 , NIV ).
Yesterday, we looked at our need for more knowledge. Today, we will explore other benefits of having knowledge.
According to Paul, we need to be filled with knowledge so that we “may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God” (Colossian 1:10, NIV). This is a good reason to seek for knowledge. The following are more benefits:
- Live a life worthy of God’s approval: This is made possible because we are applying what we know to our lives as we allow it to shape the way we think and live.
- Please God: This is my heart’s desire. I do not want to occupy space here on earth. I want to please God, honor Him with my life and bring Him glory with my deeds.
- Bear fruit: This is God’s desire for us. See John 15:8.
- Continue to grow in knowledge: The cycle of improvement and increase continues. May the Lord create a hunger in your heart for more.
I am sure we have enough reason to ask God for open heaven so that we can gain more insight and knowledge of His word. Remember, “The word of God unapplied, is the word of God not experienced”. Shalom.
Your Turn
