A Call For Repentance

Zephaniah 2:1-15
Seek the Lord …Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of  the Lord’s anger.
Zephaniah 2:3.

The Lord is merciful and gracious. He is slow to anger and rich in mercy. Several times we have experienced
Him in these dimensions. We thank Him for this. Indeed, He has not dealt with us according to our sins. See Psalm 103:9-10.

Though the Lord plans to destroy the people of Judah for their sins, He still gives them room to repent. Zephaniah
speaks, “Gather the people and seek the Lord before He will unleash His anger and the intended judgement”. That is the kind of God we serve. When we repent, He forgives.

Friend, could it be that we have stayed in sin and despondency for too long because we failed to repent and call on God? Could it be that if believers pray and continue to seek the Lord, our nation and world will change for the
better?

Friend, I re-echo the word of the prophet today and I call on us to “Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s
anger” (Zephaniah 2:3).Who knows? The Lord may answer us and save us from the evil about to come upon the nation and our world. Let us pray.

Your Turn

  • Pray in line with the challenge of this word.
  • Pray for your country. Confess our sins and ask the Lord to show us mercy.

Song: Merciful /4x Are you, Lord!
