God Has A Purpose

Judges 2:6-15
After those people had died, their children grew up and did
not know the Lord or what he had done for Israel
(Judges 2:10, New Century Version).

God is always faithful, we are the inconsistent ones. In every generation God has a purpose. His eternal purpose is that every generation will know Him, love Him and serve Him. When this purpose is not continued, He is displeased and seeks to redress the situation.

An angel of the Lord appeared unto the people and confirmed their disloyalty to the Lord. The passage further reveals to us the importance of having a strong Christian heritage and the need to leave behind, a strong spiritual legacy for the generations to come. The Scriptures make us know that “another generation arose after Joshua and the elders have died who did not know the Lord” (Judges 2:10b).

It is my prayer that we will all be like Lois and Eunice to the Timothys of today. Let us not die with the fire of God in our bones. It would do no one good to lie in the grave with the anointing, grace and revelation of God in our hearts. The elders died and the people forgot the Lord. They did not keep the commandments the Lord gave them to teach their children in Deuteronomy 6:4-12 and 31:11-13.

God became their enemy and allowed them to be disciplined by  their enemy. May God never be against us. May we not forsake the Lord and open the door for the adversary to come in to attack us. Let us pray.

Your Turn

  • Check your life and see if you have wandered away from the Lord.
  • Are there areas in your life you are living in disobedience? It is time to deal with it before the Lord.
