Be Fully Trained

Luke 6:39-40
Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher (Luke 6: 40, NLT).

One of the things I love about Jesus is the simplicity of His teachings. He is down-to-earth and straight forward. Even when He spoke in parable, if you asked Him, He would explain what He meant.

I gained a fresh insight into today’s verse in the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus is not against learning. He is against being halftrained. When you are half-trained, you are like the blind leading the blind. But when you are fully trained, then you are sure that what you know is the truth.

He told the people, “Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher” (Luke 6:39, NLT). Therefore, let us endeavor to know about the way of Christ. Many of us are deceived because our teachers are half-trained. We are not making out the time to learn at the feet of the Master Himself. Yet, the Holy Spirit in us wants to teach us (see 1 John 2:27).

In this day and age, you cannot afford to be a student. Aspire to become like the teacher. It is not a sin to desire to be like Him. Get hold of your Bible and other materials that would help you. Begin to dig into the word of God for yourself. By so doing you will not follow a blind leader and you will not lead others into the ditch. May His peace guard your heart. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Pray that the Lord would help you to make out time to sit at His feet to learn more about Him.
  • Pray for me that I will continue to learn more about Him.
