We May Be Wrong
Ruth 1:20-21
Don’t call me Naomi, she responded. Instead, call me Mara, for the Almighty has made life very bitter for me. I went away full, but the LORD has brought me home empty (Ruth 1:20-21, NLT).
Many times our perception of our situations could be wrong. Often, we are prone to blame God for everything that is wrong. Yet we are not quick to give God thanks and praise Him for every good thing that happens in our lives.
Naomi responded bitterly to the positive and favorable reception given to her by the entire town and the women, because her understanding of the situation was limited. For her, God was behind it. He allowed her husband and sons to die. I do not know the answer to her situation. We can only speculate that maybe they went without God’s approval.
Instead of blaming God, see your situation from a higher perspective, through the lens of God’s word. The Bible says, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (2 Corinthians 10: 13). He will not allow us to face situations that are beyond our capability.
In essence, God trusts us to handle what we think is beyond us. No matter what you are going through today, please do not run away from God. Do not accuse God. Rather, take your case to Him and ask Him to help you. His response will amaze you because He will not cast you away (see Romans 10:13). Shalom.
