Iniquity Will Separate Us
Luke 13:22-33
There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.
Luke 13:28
Paul warns believers in his letter to Timothy saying, “Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity” (2 Timothy 2:19).
Jesus taught the people on the need to avoid sin and take the narrow way that leads to the kingdom of God to avoid
being rejected on the last day. To buttress this, He told them a story and how in the end He would say to the
wrongdoers, “I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity” (Luke
13:27).
You see making it to the kingdom of God is paramount for us as believers, hence the need to avoid sin. We cannot say
we are Christians and continue to live in sin and say God understands. Jesus says, “No it does not work that way”.
Going to church, serving in the ministry, giving big offerings are not enough to make heaven. You must live right and know the Father for yourself. The key is holiness. It is following the life of Christ, bearing the fruit of the Spirit as demanded of us. May the Lord expound this word in our hearts. Shalom.
Your Turn
- How are your life and sin?
- Have you separated yourself from iniquity?
