Service And Consistency

Luke 12:35-48
Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master.
Luke 12:35-36

Today’s passage reveals some of the values, worldview and perspective that Jesus had to contend with. In it, we
see how Jesus taught His disciples about what matters most.

To Jesus, an evil servant is the one who refuses to stay at his duty post and serve. An evil servant is the one who is not mindful of the assignment he has been given and the impact his lack of service could have on the rest of the team or people he is meant to serve.

From the passage we could glean more truth:

  1. God rewards faithfulness.
  2. God expects us to be hardworking disciples.
  3. God’s blessings await faithful servants.
  4. Watchfulness is required in service. We must stay at our duty post. Do what we have been told to do and
    leave the rest.
  5. The delay of the Master is none of our business. Our duty is to serve. If death comes, we will go. If He returns while we are still here on earth, then good.

Friend, let us be faithful servants. God has called us to His service whether in ministry or through our vocation and
career. Let us do it well and right. We will be rewarded. Shalom.
