Do Not Worry

Luke 12: 22-34
Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.
Luke 12:22

Someone has said, “Worry is like a rocking chair; it keeps moving but gets you nowhere”. I seem to hear someone
saying, “Why? Don’t I have a right to be sad and worried about my life situations?” Yes, you do. But Jesus says it will
do you no good because there is a better way. He says, “Do not worry”.

Paul also writes, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers” (Philippians 4:6, Living Bible). We are advised not to worry because:

  1. There is more to life than the things we need.
  2. God cares for us.
  3. Our heavenly Father knows what we need, and He is willing to provide them for us.
  4. Seek God’s kingdom first. It is the ultimate need.
  5. Keep an account of good deeds in heaven. It pays good dividends in the end.

For me, the importance of this message can be summarized thus: God cares for us and wants to help us. Let us love Him in return and trust Him to supply our needs. Worrying about our problem is not the best way. There is a better way. Take your concern to God and ask Him for His help. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Talk to God about the state of your heart.
  • Pray about your needs.

Song: God will make a way.
