It Is A Place Of Renewal

Mark 1:32-38
But He said to them, ‘Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also …’ (Mark 1:38).

Have you noticed that you become weak, irritable and difficult to relate with when you have been away from the
place of prayer for too long? When we do not pray, we become weary and grouchy from the effect of the stress that life brings on us.

The first sign for me is that I get tired and unhappy because I have not spent time with my heavenly Father. Sometimes, this is a sign that I have been sloppy in my spiritual discipline or I have not managed my time well. Many of us become weak because we have not renewed our strength in God’s presence.

Prayer is a time of renewal. Its effect goes beyond your spirit. It affects your soul, your mind, and intellect as well. Prayer affects your body because you draw life from God and your cells are renewed. You also hear God clearer when you pray.

When we do not pray, we deny ourselves a lot of benefits. Renewed from the pressure of the previous day as He prayed, Jesus heard God. He knew what His next itinerary was. When the disciples found Him, He answered them saying, “Do not bother yourself. They may need Me but the Father has just shown Me our next itinerary. We are going to the next town.”

Without this, the crowd would have persuaded Him to stay. May the Lord grant us more insight in Jesus Name. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Thank God for the power in His word.
  • Ask for the grace to experience Him in prayer today.
