Covenant Focused

Genesis 24:1 – 9
The Lord … who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give this land’ he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there. (Genesis 24:7, NIV).

braham’s actions in seeking for a wife for Isaac from his country-men, settling his other sons with gifts etc., shows that he was a covenant-focused man.

All Abraham did after his encounter with God in Genesis 18 were centered around God’s promise and covenant with him. It seems that the encounter changed him and shaped his actions thereafter.  No wonder he was peaceful and acted more maturely afterwards.

Abraham told his servant, “The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give this land’ he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there” (Genesis 24:7, NIV). He knew if he acted right, God would do His part.

Friend, God is a covenant keeping God. We His children must be covenant-focused children too. This would help us to receive His blessing and reap the benefits in them. We must allow our decisions and actions to be guided by God’s word and His covenant with us. His covenant with me may be different from yours. But the goal is to please Him. His part is to bless us.

Remember, His word is yea and amen in Christ. See 2 Corinthians 1:20. God is reliable and trustworthy. Shalom.
