Be Alert
Proverbs 1:17
Indeed, it is useless to spread the net In the eyes of any bird (New American Standard Bible).
The need for spiritual sensitivity and alertness cannot be overemphasized. This is reflected in today’s focal text. The Bible says, “When a bird sees a trap being set, it stays away” (Proverbs 1:17, The Living Bible). If birds could act based on what they sense, more is required of us.
Friend, when we are sensitive to life’s situations we will not fall prey to unnecessary attacks. When we are as wise as a dove, or have an afar off vision like the eagle, we will be able to circumvent any evil net that the enemy may want to spread for us.
The problem with many of us is that we know how to pray, but we do not know how to watch. We are ignorant of how to connect our circumstances to our prayers. We must pay attention. Many times God does not work outside your circumstances, He uses them. The question is, how sharp are your spiritual antennas in receiving signals when a net has been spread for you? Do you enter into a net without knowing it? How sensitive are you to the spiritual atmosphere around you?
Let us be alert to discern where the enemy wants to come from and block it before he gets us. When we see a trap, we must pray and ask the Lord to save us from any impending danger. That is how to useless the enemy’s net. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Pray for your spiritual life. Pray for more alertness in the spirit.
- Ask for the grace to grow in your fellowship with God.
